Kutna Hora is a town in the Czech Republic which has numerous monuments enrolled in the UNESCO heritage.
We visited the city early in the afternoon after visiting the Bohemia Cristal factory in the morning.The tour started withthe visit of the monastery Sedlec. It is very different from those that we usually visit. Indeed, this one was decorated entirely of humans bones and skulls. It was made by a monk after the Plague. The remains of 40,000 people were used to make chandeliers, garlands and skull pyramids.After the visit of the ossuary, we visited St Barbe's Cathedral which was surrounded by many chapels. It became a UNESCO site in 1995. The building of the church started in 1388 but it will take more than a century to be completed.
St Barbe's CathedralWe later visited the Chapel Corpus Christi near the Church. It is an underground chapel that dates from the late fourteenth century.
We finished our tour with the visit of the Italian Court of Kutna Hora. In the past, it was a mint so we could admire many coins dating from that period. The Italian Court then became a part-time royal residence.
